Rogue Clean Fuels invests in regional CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) fueling station

Abstract

The Rogue Clean Fuels station in White City is the only public Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling station along a 400 mile stretch of the I-5 corridor. This station will also be able to sell Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) created from the naturally occurring biogas at the Dry Creek Landfill.

Rogue Clean Fuels station provides public access to CNG fuel

In 2016, Rogue Clean Fuels opened the area’s only open-to-the-public CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) fueling station in White City. This CNG station is one of a small handful of publicly accessible CNG stations in the state, and the only CNG station along a 400 mile stretch of Interstate 5 between northern California and Eugene, Oregon. Compressed Natural Gas burns much cleaner than diesel fuel, lowering the carbon footprint of fleets that provide essential services to the people of the region — including the Rogue Disposal & Recycling fleet of collection trucks. Surrounded by mountains, the Rogue Valley is an area where air quality is an everyday concern, and clean air is critical to the area’s long-term sustainability, quality of life and economic success. Operating the CNG fueling station is part of Rogue Waste Inc.’s decades-long investment towards being good environmental stewards.

Grant money from the Oregon Department of Transportation’s Congested Mitigation Air Quality program, as well as the successful engagement of strategic partners including Jackson County, the Federal Highway Administration and the Rogue Valley Transportation District helped make this Rogue Clean Fuels site possible.

The CNG Clean Fueling Station was completed in 2016.
